Job Introduction

We are looking for a Planner to join us on a temporary opportunity at Pool for a period of up to 12 months (subject to review). Planners design our network and work with our Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter and replace our equipment. As you can imagine, the pace is fast, and if you join us, our customers will trust you to provide excellent service and minimise any impact.

To apply you’ll need English and Maths GCSE at Grade C/Level 4 minimum OR Functional Skills Level 2 or above. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

*Please note you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main responsibilities

You’ll be hands-on and customer focused, managing multiple projects at the same time, including the design, costing and quoting of existing and new electricity network assets, you will also:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver new services/alterations/small capital projects
  • Carry out onsite meetings
  • Work with wayleaves/estates specialist to obtain 3rd party agreements for NGED assets
  • Financially review and close projects
  • Communicate with customers effectively to manage expectations and resolve queries
  • Schedule contracted works
  • Communicate with local authorities and external stakeholders

Ideal candidate

We need you to understand our customers and their needs; strong communication skills are key, so you can solve their problem and explain issues simply and clearly. As you’ll be in control of your diary, we’ll need you to be resilient, organised and able to prioritise your workload. Team players thrive in this role, and experience using iPads and computers is a must. You will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.

Consideration will be given to you on a designate basis, if you do not possess all the skills required to undertake the role at present but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.

If not already attained you will be required to undertake a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification.

A full valid driving licence is required for this role.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
