Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for a Regulatory Compliance Officer to join our team, reporting to the Regulatory Compliance Manager. As Regulatory Compliance Officer you will be responsible for ensuring that regulatory submissions are completed on time and as prescribed, and for the coordination of both regulatory compliance and data assurance programmes.

The successful candidate will be based at Bristol or Castle Donington, although travel to other locations across our distribution area may be required.  

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main responsibilities

  • Managing the regulatory submissions database.
  • Ensuring that all regulatory submissions are accurate and completed on time.
  • Reviewing and submitting Ofgem quarterly returns for performance measures.
  • Providing guidance and advice to the business on Licence Conditions, Regulatory Obligations and Guaranteed Standards, including preparation of guidance documents for publication on the Regulatory Compliance intranet pages.
  • Providing guidance and advice to the business on new licence requirements, regulatory requirements and incentives, e.g. Fair Treatment of Customers.
  • Monitoring the completion of actions identified through compliance checks.
  • Co-ordinating the business response to requests for information from Ofgem in relation to licence compliance, Price Reviews and general regulatory issues.
  • Providing support to the management of Price Control Reviews.
  • Representing the distribution business function on regulatory issues on behalf of the Regulatory Compliance Manager, as required, including on working groups established by Ofgem and the ENA.
  • Providing support to the wider Regulatory & Government Affairs team, as required.

Ideal candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum 5 years relevant experience in a regulated utility or consultancy, preferably with experience of regulatory requirements and dealing with government, public or consumer bodies. Have significant experience in regulatory requirements of electricity licenses and associated regulations. 

You will have the ability to plan, organise and manage multiple activities and meet tight deadlines, also have good communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing, presentation skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.

Educated to HNC/HND level or equivalent.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
